In 1965, the three existing Warren County high schools, Culkin, Redwood, and Jett, were consolidated to form a unified secondary facility on Highway 27 South that was named Warren Central Senior High School. About 800 students and 40 certified faculty members welcomed one of the first ultra-modern school facilities in Mississippi, all-electric with central heat and air.
In 1967, Warren Central Junior High School was built on the campus adjacent to the high school building. To meet the need of an expanding student population, a new junior high school facility was constructed in 1973 on the land across the highway from the high school. The original junior high school building was converted into Building B of the high school. In 2004 the Fine Arts building was constructed to house the choral and band programs.
By 1982, Warren Central's enrollment peaked with more than 2,000 students and a curriculum of approximately 170 courses. Currently there are over 1300 students enrolled.
Warren Central High School, which is situated on approximately 60 acres of land, is a ninth through twelfth grades public school. The facility consists of two main buildings (Building A and Building B) that both house gyms, the Fine Arts building, and eight smaller outlying buildings. Warren Central High School employs one head principal, three assistant principals, 82 certified faculty members and a full time support personnel includes two media specialists, three guidance counselors, two behavior specialist, five teacher assistants, a bookkeeper, five secretaries, three security guards, one security officer, a cafeteria manager, and nine cafeteria workers.
Currently, Warren Central utilized a AB block schedule, which allowed a student to attend eight classes in a period of two days. Warren Central offers courses that meet college admission requirements established by the Board of Institutions of Higher Learning, career technical classes through the Vicksburg
branch of Hinds Community College, NJROTC classes, a wide selection of business and fine art courses, and honor classes including eight Advanced Placement classes.
Warren Central also offers a full special education department which serves students ranging from severely/profoundly disabled to mild
learning disabilities. Following state department guidelines, our special education department allows young people with special needs
the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Attendance, a Mississippi Occupational Diploma (MOD) or a traditional diploma.
